This is the Steinway D numbered CD443, the piano that Vladimir Horowitz loved most. The CD443, Mr. Horowitz's last piano, was selected by the artist for his own personal home use. When he was first introduced to this instrument, Mr. Horowitz had reservations about the piano's action (which was rather heavy) but came to love the instrument so much that, when he briefly considered concertizing in 1989, he planned to take the CD443 with him. This piano was used for recording sessions made at his home in both 1988 and 1989.

Arguably the most famous Steinway piano and most famous grand piano in history, Thor is the Steinway that pianist Vladimir Horowitz loved the most. Also known as the CD443, Thor was Mr. Horowitz's last piano and was selected by the artist for personal home recording sessions. In fact, he loved it so much that he even considered concertizing it in 1989.
Thor featured an amazingly dynamic range and certain "bite" when played really hard, but still produced a soft, singing tone when played softly; two aspects most pianos simply couldn’t capture individually or together. Coupled with Steinway's famous singing tone and bell-like sympathetic resonances, it made it a truly great piano. The USB-eLicenser — also referred to as Steinberg Key or dongle — is a copy protection unit required by most Steinberg software products . It is included in the boxed versions of our host applications Cubase Pro, Cubase Artist, Nuendo and WaveLab Pro. Alongside with the host applications, many Steinberg VST instruments also require the USB-eLicenser. However, the dongle is not included in VST instrument product boxes and must be purchased separately if no USB-eLicenser is already in use.
