The Generators

Phase Plant currently offers four signal generators; Analog, Wavetable, Sample and Noise. More generators are being developed for future free updates. You can add as many as you like and route them freely between each other. There are also several utility modules to allow you even greater freedom in designing your sounds such as groups, mixing, and aux options.

For each generator group you can add an output module to send the sound to an effects lane, master, or sideband. You can also use a group purely as an audio rate modulation source for any other generator.

That’s right, Phase Plant allows for frequency modulation between all types of signal generation! FM from A to Z!

Load up your Snapins

The three effects lanes allow you to load the easy-to-use Snapins you know and love from the Kilohearts Ecosystem as building blocks within your Phase Plant patches. In true modular fashion you simply add and configure the Snapins you need and mix the lanes individually.

Don’t miss that “Poly” toggle at the top of each lane. This enables per voice processing, applying all the effects in that lane to each voice individually, even giving each voice unique random values from the Random modulator.

Semi-Modular Architecture: For each SynthMaster instance, there are 2 layers followed by 2 global effect send busses. Each layer has its own: Arpeggiator, 2 Oscillators, 4 Modulators, 2 Filters, 4 ADSR Envelopes, 2 Multistage Envelopes, 2 2D Envelopes, 2 LFOs and 4 Keyscalers. The modulators can modulate frequency, phase, amplitude or pulse width of the oscillators or any other modulators at audio rate.
Massive Modulation Architecture: SynthMaster has more than 650 modulation targets and 95 modulation sources including ADSR Envelopes, 2D Envelopes, Multistage Envelopes, LFOs, KeyScalers, Easy Parameters, Vocoder Bands, MIDI Velocity, Aftertouch, Pitch Bend and MIDI CC. Each modulation target can have up to 3 modulation sources. The modulation matrix, which has 64 available slots, has visual filtering as well so that targets for a specific source, or sources for a specific target can be filtered and shown on the user interface.
Easy Parameters: SynthMaster features 8 easy knobs and 2 XY pads that can be freely assigned as modulation sources, so that the complexity of the synth engine could be hidden away and only most important parameters of a preset can be controlled by the user. The easy parameters can be globally linked to MIDI controllers, and they can be assigned automatically by SynthMaster as well.
Powerful Arpeggiator: The arpeggiator in SynthMaster features classic arpeggiator modes such as Up, Down, UpDown, DownUp, UpDown2, DownUp2, AsPlayed as well as Sequence, Chord and Arpeggiate modes. Each of the 32 steps of the arpeggiator has its own Velocity, Note Number, Note Length, Slide and Hold parameters.
Basic Oscillators: 'Basic' oscillators in SynthMaster are capable of synthesizing many different types of waveforms: Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Pulse, Noise, Wavetable and multisampled WAV/AIFFs defined in SFZ files.
Additive Oscillators: An 'Additive' oscillator is actualy 8 'basic' oscillators running together. Each 'basic' oscillator has its own detune, tone, phase/pulse width, frequency and waveform type.
Vector Oscillators: A 'Vector' oscillator consists of 4 'basic' oscillators, mixed at different ratios. The mix ratios are determined by 2 orthogonal parameters in 2 dimensions: 'X Index' and 'Y index'.
Wavescanning Oscillators: A 'Wavescanning' oscillator is similar to basic oscillator, except that the waveform can be scanned (interpolated) through 16 different waveforms shapes. The position of the waveform can be adjusted using the 'wave index' parameter.
Stereo Oscillators with Improved Unison: Oscillators in SynthMaster have stereo output. With the new "voices", "pan spread" and "detune spread" parameters, each basic/wavescanning oscillator can have its own unison settings which eliminates the need to enable unison for all voice elements.

Easy Parameters: SynthMaster features 8 easy knobs and 2 XY pads that can be freely assigned as modulation sources, so that the complexity of the synth engine could be hidden away and only most important parameters of a preset can be controlled by the user. The easy parameters can be globally linked to MIDI controllers, and they can be assigned automatically by SynthMaster as well.
Powerful Arpeggiator: The arpeggiator in SynthMaster features classic arpeggiator modes such as Up, Down, UpDown, DownUp, UpDown2, DownUp2, AsPlayed as well as Sequence, Chord and Arpeggiate modes. Each of the 32 steps of the arpeggiator has its own Velocity, Note Number, Note Length, Slide and Hold parameters.
Basic Oscillators: 'Basic' oscillators in SynthMaster are capable of synthesizing many different types of waveforms: Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Pulse, Noise, Wavetable and multisampled WAV/AIFFs defined in SFZ files.
Additive Oscillators: An 'Additive' oscillator is actualy 8 'basic' oscillators running together. Each 'basic' oscillator has its own detune, tone, phase/pulse width, frequency and waveform type.
Vector Oscillators: A 'Vector' oscillator consists of 4 'basic' oscillators, mixed at different ratios. The mix ratios are determined by 2 orthogonal parameters in 2 dimensions: 'X Index' and 'Y index'.

A minimum of 2 GB of RAM is required. However, since MachFive loads samples (or a portion of the samples) into the computer's RAM add as much RAM as possible to your computer; 4 GB is recommended. MachFive also allows samples to be streamed directly from disk thus freeing up RAM.
Large hard drive(s), preferably at least 100 GB. The disk on which the sounds are stored must be a fast hard disk. See “Hard disk format”, below, for additional requirements.
An iLok USB Smart Key from Pace Anti-Piracy. MachFive 3 is compatible with iLok 1 and 2. PLEASE NOTE: an iLok key is not included in the MachFive 3 package. If you are are upgrading from a previous version of MachFive, you can use your MachFive version 1 or 2 iLok for your new version 3 license, which is downloaded from ilok.com.
A free USB port for the iLok USB key. Note that if you have multiple products which use iLoks for authorization you can consolidate multiple authorizations onto a single iLok.
A CD/DVD disk drive for installation.

Hard disk format

System Requirements

A minimum of 2 GB of RAM is required. However, since MachFive loads samples (or a portion of the samples) into the computer's RAM add as much RAM as possible to your computer; 4 GB is recommended. MachFive also allows samples to be streamed directly from disk thus freeing up RAM.
Large hard drive(s), preferably at least 100 GB. The disk on which the sounds are stored must be a fast hard disk. See “Hard disk format”, below, for additional requirements.
An iLok USB Smart Key from Pace Anti-Piracy. MachFive 3 is compatible with iLok 1 and 2. PLEASE NOTE: an iLok key is not included in the MachFive 3 package. If you are are upgrading from a previous version of MachFive, you can use your MachFive version 1 or 2 iLok for your new version 3 license, which is downloaded from ilok.com.
A free USB port for the iLok USB key. Note that if you have multiple products which use iLoks for authorization you can consolidate multiple authorizations onto a single iLok.
A CD/DVD disk drive for installation.
A digital audio workstation program or other program that hosts AU, VST, or RTAS instrument plug-ins. Alternatively, MachFive can be used as a standalone application.

Mac systems

Intel Core Duo CPU 1.83 GHz or faster; multiple processors or a multi-core processor is required. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.0 GHz or faster recommended. Macs with PowerPC CPUs are not supported.
Mac OS X version 10.8, 10.7, 10.6, or 10.5 (v10.5.8 or later is required).

Windows systems

Hard disk format

Due to the large size of MachFive’s factory soundbank UFS files, the disk containing the soundbank files must be able to support individual files larger than 4 GB. This is determined by the disk’s file system format.

The default file system format for disk drives on Mac OS X and Windows are compatible with MachFive’s soundbank files:

Mac OS X: HFS+ (Mac OS Extended, journaled or unjournaled)
Windows: NTFS

The FAT32 format is not compatible with MachFive’s soundbank files, as it does not allow file sizes greater than 4 GB.

Highly Expressive Arp Solina String Ensemble Emulation

Have you ever wanted to hot rod an Arp Solina String Ensemble? Now you can. SONiVOX’s Solina Redux virtual instrument adds a sweet sounding virtual analog synthesizer to a classic reproduction of an Arp Solina String Ensemble, then throws in TWO fully programmable 8-step sequencers to boot. It’s a match made in heaven and one that produces sonic textures you simply can’t get any other way.

The Arp Solina was the preeminent string ensemble in the 1970’s, made famous by the Eagles, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Joy Division, Tangerine Dream, New Order and many others. Its analog Violin, Viola, Cello, Contra Bass, Trumpet and Horn sounds have a sound that creates rich retro sounding orchestral ensembles, especially with its famous "Ensemble" chorus effect.

Solina Redux gives you access to the original Solina sounds, including a model of the Ensemble chorus effect, but includes a modern virtual analog synthesizer as a sidecar. The combination of these two synthesizers provides a sound palette that is both retro and modern or anything in between at your discretion. Each synth includes a multi-mode filter, amplitude and filter envelopes, LFO modulations and send effects.

To top it off, Solina Redux adds in two fully programmable step sequencers, one for the Solina instrument and one for the analog synthesizer. Play one note and out comes a modern orchestra unlike any you’ve heard. Each step sequencer gives you per step control over the pitch of each note, the volume of each note, the filter cutoff of each note, and the panning of each note. Other controls include gate time, tempo sync, time division, swing, note order and octave shift.

Sonivox Stratum Classic Supersaw and 4-operator FM Synth

A Powerful Supersaw And FM Synth

Stratum by Sonivox, is a rock-solid layering of a classic Supersaw synthesizer and a 4-operator FM synthesizer. Originally made famous by the Roland JP-8000, the Supersaw waveform has made a strong comeback in the trance and hardcore genres due to its edgy sound, particularly in synth leads and synth basses.

Stratum takes this a step further by combining this classic waveform with a 4-operator FM synth, a noise generator and sub oscillator to produce a virtual instrument perfect for modern synthwave productions like those found in the recent hit series “Stranger Things” and the movie "Synchronicity OST".

Using the new struQture audio engine from Qubiq Audio, Stratum also features two low-pass filters, a vocal format filter, and a tube distortion circuit to further enhance its sounds, all controllable by a simple modulation matrix featuring four LFO’s with modwheel control and an 8-step sequencer called the Stepper. For users who need to punish their sounds even further, Stratum includes a unique XY Pad which can mix in a Bit Crusher, Dirty Phaser, Wah-Wah, and a Non-Linear Delay.
