Reproduction of an historic Alfred Arnold Bandoneon
The Bandoneon choosen for sampling is an historic Alfred Arnold of 50s.with 40 keys on the right hand and 32 notes on left hand.
The Bandoneon was recorded with a Neumann TLM103 large diaphragm microphone thru an Apogee Symphony I/O converter with its own Mic Preamp card for the best audio resolution and musical details. All the 440 samples are in 96kHz/24bit resolution!
By careful analysis of the sound PSound found a great variation of the harmonic spectrum during the dynamic range of the reeds. This variation depends on the high quality of the hand made reeds of the instrument. They tried to reproduce this amazing feature!
There are 4 dynamic layers and 2 round-robins for each note of the instrument. All the samples of the Bandoneon are perfectly looped with "DSPQuattro" audio editing software. In this way, you can play very long notes from your instruments without interruptions.

The Sounds
- Preset 1 - The "Full Range" preset consists of both left and right hands notes mixed, it allows you to have a 56 notes (from F2 to C7).
- Preset 2 - The "Left Hand" preset implements the left hand keys of the Bandoneon, with 32 notes (from G3 to C7).
- Preset 3 - The "Right Hand" preset implements the right hand keys, with 36 notes (from F2 to C5).

Vintage Accordion is a software virtual musical instrument created by Paolo Principi of PSOUND. The instrument is based on a vintage Titano accordion made in Castelfidardo, Italy from the 1960s. To realized it Paolo made an in depth study about its special sound. Paolo loves that sound and all its expressive variations! To capture its soul he worked with amazing technical tools (from microphones to sound card, from editing software to developement system)! He recorded, edited and looped almost 1300 waveforms for a total of 2GB of memory storage. All samples are perfectly looped. He recorded all the registers of his accordion, all the keys for 4 velocity layers and 2 round robin. He adopted a filter to simulate the harmonic variation of sounds during its dynamic range. He separately recorded the key-on and key-off noises for a more realistic sound! Now he says: "Yes! This is its real sound!".

"Vintage Accordion" is based on an old Titano Accordion made in Castelfidardo (Italy) by Victoria in the 60s. This instrument is one of the most acclaimed vintage accordions on the market. Its sound, with the "tube chamber" solution, allows the musicians to explore all the expressive possibilities that an accordion can produce!
LAYERS & FILTERS
Composing the sound
There's 4 dynamic layers and 2 round-robins for each note of the instrument. A special filter modulated by expression pedal allows a great "crescendo" effect to obtain a real bellow controlled sound. A Tremolo effect is modulate by "modulation wheel"

The 7 registers of the real accordion are implemented: Basson (16"), Bandoneon (16"+8"), Organ (16"+4"), Master (16"+8"+4"), Oboe (8"+4") and Piccolo (4"). I provide to set various presets, from left and right hand together to single register presets to manage every MIDI configuration.
