GRAN CODA is a new approach in making a virtual grand piano.
For the first time a virtual instrument was created in collaboration with the manufacturer: Fazioli Pianoforti (Sacile, Italy).
GRAN CODA was recorded in Sacile at the Fazioli Concert Hall and the piano was prepared by Fazioli technicians.
The selected model F278 is the resident Grand Piano of the Fazioli Concert Hall and it was inaugurated in 2005 by a great italian pianist: Aldo Ciccolini.
Paolo Principi recorded it in 3 different microphone positions: Close (most used in jazz and pop productions), Side (for classic music) and Binaural (to simulate the position of the pianist inside the Fazioli Concert Hall).
The virtual instrument was tested and approved by Fazioli technicians inside Fazioli laboratories.
For these reasons GRAN CODA is the only Virtual Piano authorized by Fazioli.

Their flagship piano instrument is not just any piano. Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 is an exceptional recreation of the Steinway 9-foot CD 327 grand piano. Meticulously sampled and expertly voiced, Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 provides every composer, pianist, and musician the opportunity to infuse their compositions, recordings, and performances with the breathtaking realism of this truly world-class grand piano. The recording philosophy employed in creating Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 was based on using a simple signal chain, the finest A/D converters, and exceptional microphone preamps. The result is some 1500 sample recordings, with 16 dynamic levels captured and preserved for every key.
Personal Touch
Even with all this painstaking attention to accuracy, Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 provides plenty of opportunities to customize the sound to match the project—or your taste. The four-band EQ allows the timbre of the sound to be easily refined. An improved limiter offers enhanced dynamic control. Even the level of the sustain pedal and hammer release elements that help define the character of the piano can be individually controlled. Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 also adds a new robust reverb section. The high-frequency damping and room size parameters can add just the right ambience to your performance.
Ensemble Extras
As the name implies, there is more to Eighty Eight Ensemble 2 than piano. Combination patches come in two flavors. Layered combinations, or Pads, add a second instrument that sounds along with the piano. These layered sounds include strings, synth pads, and choral pads. Split Combinations, or Combis, introduce a second sound—or even a third—played in a specified range of keys. Setting a lower split adds a bass sound—such as bass guitar—playing below the piano. Setting an upper split adds a solo accompaniment instrument playing above the piano. Solo sounds include flute, clarinet, acoustic guitar, etc. Combis can have both an upper and lower split. The zones, or range of keys where each instrument will play, can abut or overlap as you desire. The velocity response can be set to make the most of your keyboard and playing style.
Turn and Learn
In addition to the onscreen controls, Eighty Eight Ensemble features a brilliant MIDI Learn Mode. Simply adjusting a parameter and then touching an external MIDI control creates a link between the two. This intuitive MIDI mapping system allows Eighty Eight Ensemble to quickly integrate with your favorite MIDI hardware controller. In fact, Eighty Eight Ensemble can save and recall your MIDI Learn presets and use them with any patch, so you only need to create them once.
Finders, Keepers

Neo Piano features a custom built Hybrid DFD/RAM system. It is a very flexible system which can be optimised for different playing applications. If you are using an old system with low RAM,DFD will work well. If you are using a top performance 64bit system with plenty of RAM, you can choose to play Neo Piano totally from RAM. A balance of DFD and RAM samples can be utilised to optimise general performance. In All cases Sound Quality remains at the highest level.
The core of the Neo Piano Engine is the intelligent analyze system which evaluates a MIDI track or performance to determine the Optimum balance between RAM and DFD usage. Arguably the most famous Steinway piano and most famous grand piano in history, Thor is the Steinway that pianist Vladimir Horowitz loved the most. Also known as the CD443, Thor was Mr. Horowitz's last piano and was selected by the artist for personal home recording sessions. In fact, he loved it so much that he even considered concertizing it in 1989.
Thor featured an amazingly dynamic range and certain "bite" when played really hard, but still produced a soft, singing tone when played softly; two aspects most pianos simply couldn’t capture individually or together. Next Generation Neo Piano Hybrid Modelling Engine
Neo Piano features a custom built Hybrid DFD/RAM system. It is a very flexible system which can be optimised for different playing applications. If you are using an old system with low RAM,DFD will work well. If you are using a top performance 64bit system with plenty of RAM, you can choose to play Neo Piano totally from RAM. A balance of DFD and RAM samples can be utilised to optimise general performance. In All cases Sound Quality remains at the highest level.
The core of the Neo Piano Engine is the intelligent analyze system which evaluates a MIDI track or performance to determine the Optimum balance between RAM and DFD usage. You can choose the amount of RAM available to Neo Piano to use. For live stage performances, the entire piano sample set can be loaded into RAM, removing any worries about OS interference with Hard Disc access. For Studio and Composition use, DFD is ideal with modern computers.
The new Neo Piano Engine has been totally redesigned and consumes much less CPU than before (1/10 of the previous version) and also best DFD performance (15mb/s requirement for hard disk speed which is around 1/10 for modern hard disks and even less for SSD, so this minimizes the possibility of glitches and pops due to reading the hard drive)

The new user defined Damping system emulates real damper behaviour precisely and you can decide whether you want to play a ‘tight’ brand new piano, a typical bedded-in piano or a ‘loose’ well-worn old piano.

Major Breakthrough - Multi-Dimension Resonance Engine
A major breakthrough in Neo Piano Engine is the resonance engine. Every Grand Piano has a very large soundboard which reflects sound which resonates together with the piano’s wood body. This is a continuous process and makes every note sound unique. In order to simulate this behaviour, Sound Magic first captures multi angle IRs from the soundboard, then applies ground-breaking technology to convert those IRs into Resonance Engine Algorithms. The result is an amazing concert hall sound reproduction full of life.

Style Designer is a special function which allows you to quickly and easily set the piano’s musical style, such as pop, jazz, rock, classical or soft. When you move the style level dial, it will change several internal parametric.
Artificial Intelligence Tools
The Artificial Intelligence Tools check the response of your keyboard and pedals, and help you to find your ideal velocity response curve. A.I. Tools will:
1. Test your Keyboard's Velocity Response.
2. Test pedal support and half pedaling support.

Neo Piano Engine provides different GUi versions for different usage. Sometimes, you may not want the GUI to take so much space on the screen, then the mini GUI version will be good for you. Or you may want to see GUI easily, so a modern and big GUI will be good for you. they plan to add more GUI versions in future to give users more choice on their GUI.
