New in DP 10.1
Clips in Tracks and Clip Recording
Clips (phrases of MIDI or audio data) allow users to record, edit and arrange track material easily and intuitively. Users can apply all of DP's powerful editing tools, such as split, trim, drag and drop, edge-edit, copy/paste and more. To loop a clip, just drag out its right edge. Double-click to open the Clip Editor for precise hands-on control. Use the Pack and Unpack commands to create a clip from existing data or extract data from a clip. Clip Record mode lets users trigger clips in the Clips window and then capture their entire performance into tracks for playback and editing. Users can also record directly into new, blank clips as inspiration strikes.
Real-time and Off-line Stem Bouncing
Digital Performer 10.1's Bounce to Disk feature now allows users to batch export audio stems and mixes faster than ever with both real-time and faster-than-real-time (off-line) mixdown operations. Users can bounce multiple tracks and/or outputs in a single operation for fast, convenient delivery of stems for their productions. The "Bounce Includes Audio Patch Thru" option even allows for real-time capturing of audio returns from external sources, such as a hardware reverbs, hardware synths or Vienna Ensemble Pro™ instruments.
Retrospective MIDI Record
Digital Performer 10.1 is always capturing MIDI input, even when its main transports are not actually recording — or even completely stopped. Users can immediately recall material they’ve recently played at any time. For example, a user might experiment with musical ideas, playing their MIDI controller, and afterwards decide to place the performance into a track to permanently capture it. If the performance was played with the transport stopped, Digital Performer can even tempo analyze the performance and conform it to the project tempo. Almost like magic, Digital Performer frees creativity and ensures that precious, fleeting creative moments are never lost.
Enhanced MIDI editing
Note velocities can now be quickly altered with the new Velocity Tool. For overall enhanced viewing, note-on and note-off velocities are now displayed with larger icons, muted notes appear more clearly, non-active automation data types appear translucent, and optional note duration tails appear next to velocity handles.

CLIPS WINDOW - Trigger loops and phrases from your laptop or controller
The new Clips window brings loop triggering to Digital Performer. Drag and drop audio and MIDI clips from DP's new Content Browser into the Clips window and trigger them in real time, interactively, for live performance or on-the-fly inspiration while creating new material. Trigger individual clips, multi-track clip groups (a partial row) or the entire row (clips across all tracks). DP's unique clip queue lets you stack clip sequences ahead of time, so you don't have to manually trigger each one. Dynamically add and remove clips from the queue, as inspiration strikes, from your laptop or any MIDI controller. The Clips window makes DP a live performance powerhouse, combining clip triggering with linear, track-based playback and live mixing. DP is now your one stop shop for creative studio production and live performance.
STRETCH AUDIO - Manipulate audio like never before
From precision editing of individual beats to global tempo changes, Stretch audio lets you manipulate audio faster and easier, with more control than ever before. - Enhanced Support for MCU and HUI-compatible Control Surfaces: A new plug-in called MCU Compatible enhances support for third-party control surfaces that are Mackie Control Universal-compatible. Substantial improvements have been made to DP’s Mackie Control Universal (MCU) and HUI control surface plug-ins, which can be used with any control surface that supports those protocols including improved automation toggling, scrub modes, send mode, loop toggle, and much more.
- More Control Surface Enhancements: For all control surfaces that support these features: V-Racks can now be displayed on all control surfaces. New track pinning modes (Pin to Mixer, Pin to Focus Window, and All Tracks) significantly improve the way corresponding tracks are displayed in DP and on the control surface, so that you always see the tracks you need. Live Performance Mode
- When performing live, you want all effects processing to be done in real time, rather than pregenerated. For instant responsiveness, Live Performance Mode ensures that your computer feels like an extension of your hands.
Updated Feature Set
- Multichannel MIDI Tracks: You can now record and play multiple channels of MIDI data in a single track. When setting MIDI track input and output assignments, instead of choosing a specific channel, you can choose Any. When you choose Any for input, you can record all 16 MIDI channels into the track at once. The channels are stored with the MIDI events in the track. When you choose Any in the track's output assignment, the events will be played out on the same channel they were recorded.
- Enhanced View Filtering: Show and hide individual MIDI channel data using the new Channel Selector section in the Track Selector. Use the Event Type Selector section to show and hide specific event types.
- Track and Clip Effects: Every audio track, MIDI track, and clip now has a basic transpose setting that you can use to transpose the content of that track or clip by an interval on playback, leaving the original data unaffected. You can conveniently change the setting at any time. MIDI tracks and clips also have a quantize setting, in addition to transpose.
- Intelligent Audio Interface Selection: On macOS, if you haven’t yet selected the audio hardware you wish to use with DP, DP finds the best option for you. If you have a MOTU interface, or other professional interface, DP uses it. If not, DP uses whatever input and output devices you have selected in the System Preferences Sound Panel, and will follow your selection there if you change it. Of course, if you do choose an interface from within DP, DP uses it.
- Clips Window Enhancements: The Double Clip Loop feature doubles the length of the looped portion in a clip and repeats the material to fill the new loop, so you can easily create changes that you hear every other time through the looped material. The New Empty Clips Scene command fills empty cells with new empty clips.
- List Font Scaling: Now you can resize the text in DP’s list windows, independent of the scaling for the rest of the UI. Control three new font-size preferences: List, Project Notes, and Lyrics.
- Text Rendering on Windows: Taking advantage of the latest text rendering engine in Windows 10, DP’s text appears significantly crisper. Numerous additional text alignment tweaks improve DP’s look on Windows.
- Dynamically resizable channel strips: DP's faders resize when you make the Mixing Board and Channel Strip windows taller (or shorter).

Updated Feature Set
- Multichannel MIDI Tracks: You can now record and play multiple channels of MIDI data in a single track. When setting MIDI track input and output assignments, instead of choosing a specific channel, you can choose Any. When you choose Any for input, you can record all 16 MIDI channels into the track at once. The channels are stored with the MIDI events in the track. When you choose Any in the track's output assignment, the events will be played out on the same channel they were recorded.
- Enhanced View Filtering: Show and hide individual MIDI channel data using the new Channel Selector section in the Track Selector. Use the Event Type Selector section to show and hide specific event types.
- Track and Clip Effects: Every audio track, MIDI track, and clip now has a basic transpose setting that you can use to transpose the content of that track or clip by an interval on playback, leaving the original data unaffected. You can conveniently change the setting at any time. MIDI tracks and clips also have a quantize setting, in addition to transpose.
- Intelligent Audio Interface Selection: On macOS, if you haven’t yet selected the audio hardware you wish to use with DP, DP finds the best option for you. If you have a MOTU interface, or other professional interface, DP uses it. If not, DP uses whatever input and output devices you have selected in the System Preferences Sound Panel, and will follow your selection there if you change it. Of course, if you do choose an interface from within DP, DP uses it.
- Clips Window Enhancements: The Double Clip Loop feature doubles the length of the looped portion in a clip and repeats the material to fill the new loop, so you can easily create changes that you hear every other time through the looped material. The New Empty Clips Scene command fills empty cells with new empty clips.
- List Font Scaling: Now you can resize the text in DP’s list windows, independent of the scaling for the rest of the UI. Control three new font-size preferences: List, Project Notes, and Lyrics.

PreSonus Studio One 4 Professional offers an integrated approach to recording music, from tracking to mixing to mastering and distribution. Featuring a flow oriented, drag-and-drop interface, the software is built for intuitive use, speed, and efficiency. The software includes the fully-licensed and integrated Melodyne Essential pitch correction plug-in, Red Book CD burning, and video playback and sync.
This latest version provides some substantial updates including chord tracks, ARA 2.0 support, updated pattern and drum editors, and updates to PreSonus's virtual instruments; Impact XT, Sample One XT, and Presence XT. Chord tracks feature harmonic editing, which makes it easier to prototype a song, allowing for flexibility in transposing, key modulation, and chord substitution. Audio Random Access (ARA) was developed in conjunction with Celemony for seamless integration with Melodyne Essential. The latest ARA 2.0 gives Melodyne and 3rd party plug-in developers access to the chord track and key signature used in harmonic editing.
The drum and pattern editors update the traditional step sequencing method by placing patterns inside of tracks. No longer will you have to open a sequencer within a sequencer, as all pattern data lives inside tracks on your arrangement page, allowing for fast and effective editing with the same ease as standard MIDI and audio tracks. What's more is that there are several per-step options including velocity editing, 10 levels of repeat for stutter effects, a probability algorithm that adds variety by selectively dropping out notes, and even per-step automation for all automatable parameters.
Studio One 4 is robust enough for the most complex productions, delivering full audio and MIDI recording and editing capabilities with 41 native effects plug-ins, 5 virtual instruments, and over 30GB of bundled content. There are no limits on track count, plug-in instantiations, or editing features. Studio One Professional 4 is compatible with any ASIO, Windows Audio, or Core Audio compliant audio interface, including the entire line of PreSonus interfaces.

PreSonus Studio One 4 Artist offers an integrated approach to recording music, from tracking, to mixing, to mastering, and distribution. Featuring a flow oriented, drag-and-drop interface, the software is built for intuitive use, speed, and efficiency.
This latest version provides some substantial updates including updated pattern and drum editors and updates to PreSonus's virtual instruments; Impact XT, Sample One XT, and Presence XT. The drum and pattern editors update the traditional step sequencing method by placing patterns inside of tracks. No longer will you have to open a sequencer within a sequencer, as all pattern data lives inside tracks on your arrangement page, allowing for fast and effective editing with same ease as standard MIDI and audio tracks. What's more there are several per-step options including velocity editing, 10 levels of repeat for stutter effects, a probability algorithm that adds variety by selectively dropping out notes, and per-step automation for all automatable parameters.
Studio One 4 is robust enough for the most complex productions, delivering full audio and MIDI recording and editing capabilities with 30 native effects plug-ins, 5 virtual instruments, and nearly 4GB of bundled content. There are no limits on track count, plug-in instantiations, or editing features. PreSonus Studio One 4 Professional offers an integrated approach to recording music, from tracking to mixing to mastering and distribution. Featuring a flow oriented, drag-and-drop interface, the software is built for intuitive use, speed, and efficiency. The software includes the fully-licensed and integrated Melodyne Essential pitch correction plug-in, Red Book CD burning, and video playback and sync.
This latest version provides some substantial updates including chord tracks, ARA 2.0 support, updated pattern and drum editors, and updates to PreSonus's virtual instruments; Impact XT, Sample One XT, and Presence XT. Chord tracks feature harmonic editing, which makes it easier to prototype a song, allowing for flexibility in transposing, key modulation, and chord substitution. Audio Random Access (ARA) was developed in conjunction with Celemony for seamless integration with Melodyne Essential. The latest ARA 2.0 gives Melodyne and 3rd party plug-in developers access to the chord track and key signature used in harmonic editing.
The drum and pattern editors update the traditional step sequencing method by placing patterns inside of tracks. No longer will you have to open a sequencer within a sequencer, as all pattern data lives inside tracks on your arrangement page, allowing for fast and effective editing with the same ease as standard MIDI and audio tracks. What's more is that there are several per-step options including velocity editing, 10 levels of repeat for stutter effects, a probability algorithm that adds variety by selectively dropping out notes, and even per-step automation for all automatable parameters.
Studio One 4 is robust enough for the most complex productions, delivering full audio and MIDI recording and editing capabilities with 41 native effects plug-ins, 5 virtual instruments, and over 30GB of bundled content. There are no limits on track count, plug-in instantiations, or editing features. Presonus Studio One V4 Professional Upgrade from Any Artist Version Mac PC iOS Tablet DAW
PreSonus Studio One 4 Professional offers an integrated approach to recording music, from tracking to mixing to mastering and distribution. Featuring a flow oriented, drag-and-drop interface, the software is built for intuitive use, speed, and efficiency. The software includes the fully-licensed and integrated Melodyne Essential pitch correction plug-in, Red Book CD burning, and video playback and sync.
This latest version provides some substantial updates including chord tracks, ARA 2.0 support, updated pattern and drum editors, and updates to PreSonus's virtual instruments; Impact XT, Sample One XT, and Presence XT. Chord tracks feature harmonic editing, which makes it easier to prototype a song, allowing for flexibility in transposing, key modulation, and chord substitution. Audio Random Access (ARA) was developed in conjunction with Celemony for seamless integration with Melodyne Essential. The latest ARA 2.0 gives Melodyne and 3rd party plug-in developers access to the chord track and key signature used in harmonic editing.
The drum and pattern editors update the traditional step sequencing method by placing patterns inside of tracks. No longer will you have to open a sequencer within a sequencer, as all pattern data lives inside tracks on your arrangement page, allowing for fast and effective editing with the same ease as standard MIDI and audio tracks. What's more is that there are several per-step options including velocity editing, 10 levels of repeat for stutter effects, a probability algorithm that adds variety by selectively dropping out notes, and even per-step automation for all automatable parameters.
Studio One 4 is robust enough for the most complex productions, delivering full audio and MIDI recording and editing capabilities with 41 native effects plug-ins, 5 virtual instruments, and over 30GB of bundled content. There are no limits on track count, plug-in instantiations, or editing features. Studio One Professional 4 is compatible with any ASIO, Windows Audio, or Core Audio compliant audio interface, including the entire line of PreSonus interfaces.
