iD22 delivers the audio performance of a large format console in a compact and elegant desktop package. Providing two Audient console mic pres, class-leading Burr Brown converter technology, console style monitor control, JFET D.I, ADAT expandability, user defined function keys, balanced inserts and more, iD22 will become the hub of your studio in no time.
The iD22 has a pair of the same Class-A mic preamps found in Audient's world-class consoles, ensuring gold-star treatment for your dynamic or phantom-powered condenser microphones. A harmonically rich JFET 1/4" instrument input is also provided, so you can plug your guitar or bass directly into the interface and get the character of valve amplifiers. Each analog input channel offers switches for 48V phantom power, a -10 dB pad, polarity reverse, and a high-pass filter.
Outfitted with 24-bit / 96 kHz Burr-Brown AD/DA converters, the iD22 delivers premium accuracy while remaining natural and musical, devoid of problems caused by distortion and unstable clocking. The inclusion of a TOSLINK optical input port enables expansion for more recording channels via an ADAT- or S/PDIF-equipped external mic preamp or A/D converter. Use the TOSLINK optical output to feed tracks to a digital mixing console, a multichannel headphone distribution system, or a high-end D/A converter.
With stereo 1/4" main and alt monitor outputs, an independent Class-AB headphone output, and comprehensive console-style monitor control, the iD22 interface lets you listen to your content in high quality, smoothly adjust your levels, and access dim, cut, mono sum, and more. Plus, there's the revolutionary ScrollControl, a function that can be used to control anything over which your mouse pointer hovers.
DAW software, virtual instruments, samples, cabinet simulation, and more are included to get you started on your path toward achieving polished productions. The iD22 connects to your Mac/Windows host computer via USB and it includes a 12 VDC power supply to provide reliable power for its premium circuitry.
Two Class-A Microphone Preamps
The iD22 incorporates a Class-A microphone design developed by legend David Dearden and optimized over 20 years of refinement. It features an 8-transistor discrete design that delivers low noise, low distortion, and high common mode rejection at all gain levels. The all-analog circuitry runs on ±15V (30V rails) and provides high headroom and class-leading drive capability.
Analog I/O
The analog I/O includes two Neutrik XLR-1/4" combo mic/line inputs and a harmonically rich JFET DI input, which is designed to replicate the input stage of a classic valve amplifier—plug your guitar, bass, keyboard, or drum machine straight in and start recording instantly.
With two pairs of balanced 1/4" stereo speaker outputs and an independent Class-AB 1/4" headphone output, you can enjoy clear and convenient monitoring through your favorite headphones as well as main and secondary active monitors.
Balanced Inserts
Two fully balanced insert points enable you to integrate your outboard gear prior to conversion, letting you quickly insert your favorite compressors or vintage EQs. The insert return also gives you direct access to the A/D converters, providing the cleanest signal path possible and making it great for print-backs.
8-Channel Digital I/O Expansion
The iD22's TOSLINK optical input can accept ADAT or S/PDIF digital signals, allowing up to eight additional inputs over a single digital cable. Expand your recording setup with an ADAT-equipped 8-channel mic pre such as the ASP880 (available separately).
The iD22 features a TOSLINK optical output for sending two channels of S/PDIF or up to eight channels of ADAT to an external mixer, a multichannel D/A converter, or a headphone distribution system.
Pad, Polarity, and High-Pass Filter Switches
In addition to switchable phantom power, each analog input channel of the iD22 has switches for a -10 dB pad (for increasing headroom), polarity reverse (vital when recording multiple mics on the same source), and a 12 dB/octave high-pass filter at 100 Hz (helpful for removing rumble).
ScrollControl
With a touch of a button, the iD22's volume encoder becomes a virtual scroll wheel that allows you to adjust DAW hosts, plug-in parameters, iD22's mixer app, and even scroll through your iTunes library. Wherever your mouse pointer hovers, the iD knob can scroll to control.
When not using the virtual scroll wheel, the iD button can be assigned to control the unit's monitoring features such as dim, polarity reverse, mono sum, talkback, and more.
Console-Style Monitor Controller
Take advantage of the onboard console-style monitor control functions including mono sum, polarity, dim, cut, talkback, and cue-mix monitoring; all the pro-level features you'd normally only find in far more expensive interfaces.
Software Mixer
Whether you're creating low-latency cue mixes or utilizing the flexible monitor control, the iD22 tightly integrates the hardware and software to make the recording process easy.
Built-In Talkback
New dedicated talkback technology enables you to utilize any audio source connected to your computer (e.g. your computer's built-in mic or a USB microphone) as your talkback mic, freeing up valuable mic pres while offering an effective talkback solution no matter where you are.
Rugged Durability
Thanks to all-metal construction, hand-finished aluminum knobs, and high-grade component selection, the iD22 can stand up to countless late nights in the studio and days on the road.
Bundled Software
Compatible with all major audio software and plug-ins, the iD22 comes bundled with a collection of professional software, giving you everything you need to start recording.
