The Avid Pro Tools HDX Core features 18 DSP cores and two high-performance FPGA chips, making it a powerhouse. It is finely tuned to process thousands of audio streams at staggering speeds. The central FPGA rapidly routes signal around the card—one sample at a time—with no latency. While the DSPs handle mixer and real-time plugin processing at an amazing 6.3 GHz aggregate clip. The result? Dedicated horsepower to mix the biggest sessions. And immense performance to record directly into them—with real-time effects.
* Latency calculated using a 96 kHz sample rate with a 64-sample buffer. Tests run using Pro Tools | HDX and Pro Tools | HD Native with Pro Tools | HD I/O.
** Audio tracks based on sample rates of 48/96/192 kHz, respectively. Installing additional cards will increase track counts to the maximum allowable.

Pro Tools LE Software
Audio
Digi 001's Pro Tools LE software enables you to record and play back up to 32 tracks of audio at sample rates of up to 48 kHz. As soon as your audio enters Pro Tools, it enjoys a 24-bit signal path until it leaves via your Digi 001 I/O box. Coming or going, the sound involved with your sessions also benefits from your hardware's high-quality signal converters (A/D and D/A) and a pair of custom mic preamps, ensuring the fidelity of your signals. Of course, Pro Tools enables you to determine the quality of your audio as needs demand — you can always determine the bit rate and sample resolution of a given session in advance. But, it's always nice to know that you have the option of high-end sound at your disposal.
Mixing
With Digi 001, we've made mixing extremely easy on your eyes and ears. The Pro Tools LE software interface allows you to tweak every component of your mix whenever you choose. As your computer's processor transparently crunches mixing data, you guide the mixing process via the intuitive Pro Tools user interface. Digi 001 and Pro Tools LE software present you with a variety of methods to control and automate your mix, all within a non-destructive, recovery-friendly environment geared toward rapid, superior results. Pro Tools LE features better mixing automation than some of the best stand-alone mixing consoles available.
MIDI
Similar to its audio features and capabilities, Pro Tools LE's integrated MIDI environment gives you full control over the MIDI components of your projects. MIDI events and sequences can be manipulated as easily as audio, eliminating the need to learn yet another operational paradigm. Pro Tools LE software supports the import, creation, and export of MIDI data as well as multiple MIDI device protocols. Regardless of the amount of MIDI you involve in your projects, you'll be surprised by Pro Tools LE's friendly, comprehensive, integrated MIDI environment.
Editing
Pro Tools' editing capabilities are such that they have become the standard by which all competitors' efforts are judged. This phenomenon has everything to do with two factors: ease of use and magnitude of scope. Just as with Pro Tools TDM software, a single screen within the Pro Tools LE interface — the Edit Window — enables you to adjust literally every aspect of both audio and MIDI data at sample level resolution. Trim waveforms, reprocess regions of audio, pitch-correct a compromised performance, replace drum sounds, rearrange song sections on a whim — Pro Tools' non-linear approach to editing enables you to act instantly on your decisions without having to commit to them. And with tools like Antare's Auto-Tune available for the Pro Tools application, there's always a tool available to fix what is — or isn't — broken.
Plug-Ins
Plug-ins, add-on software-based tools that work in conjunction with Pro Tools, are paramount to the effectiveness of the platform. Plug-ins facilitate and embody everything from dynamics to effects to sound design, often improving upon the hardware counterparts and equivalents that many emulate. To use plug-ins, you simply instantiate (or activate) them within the Pro Tools interface. At that point, you are free to employ presets, customize settings, and/or automate a given plug-in's activity within a mix. Unlike outboard gear, you can use your plug-ins on multiple tracks, with multiple settings.
Pro Tools LE-compatible plug-ins take two forms: RTAS and AudioSuite. RTAS (Real-Time AudioSuite) plug-ins afford you all the benefits of real-time processing and can be assigned to multiple tracks as frequently as you like within the limits of your system. AudioSuite plug-ins are non-real-time, and once applied to your audio, result in the generation of a new audio file with the processing intact. Of course, you also have the option of saving your original file.
Mastering
In addition to providing an ideal recording, editing, and mixing environment, Digi 001 also affords you the opportunity to add the finishing touches to your projects through mastering. Editing capabilities and plug-ins used in conjunction with the Pro Tools software interface enable you to make the necessary fine adjustments to your final mix to achieve the perfect combination of warmth, presence, and balance.

$999.00The 24I/O (PCIe) Core from MOTU is a hard disc recording system which includes an interface with twenty-four, high quality 24-bit/96kHz analog inputs and outputs, in a cost effective single rack space package. The interface allows for recording to and from twenty-four simultaneous analog sources. Ideal for synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, sound modules and effects processors. Also includes a PCIe card (PCI Express) along Audiodesk workstation software.
The front panel of the interface is essentially a dedicated meter bridge. Audio activity for every input and output is represented by a dedicated five-segment LED bar graph. The twenty-four analog inputs and outputs are on 1/4" TRS phone connectors operating at either -10dB or +4dB (balanced/unbalanced,) and the input level can be switched via software in banks of eight inputs. The 24I/O interface provides word clock sync on a single BNC connector that can be programmed for input or output via software.
The 24I/O uses the second generation AudioWire protocol, a high-bandwidth digital audio format capable of carrying up to twenty-four channels of 96kHz digital audio in and out of the computer at the same time. The included PCIe card features a powerful DSP chip dedicated to creating a custom tailored monitor mix of up to ninety-six channels of 96kHz audio. Because the mixing takes place on the card itself, instead of making the round trip from the PCI bus to the host processor, the system provides near-zero latency performance.
The 24I/O can be purchased as an expander (without the card) for an existing PCIe or PCIX-424-based MOTU Audio System such as a 2408mk3. See product listings to order it as an expander.

The 2408mk3 is ideal for both the computer-based studio with no mixing board and more elaborate studios built around a digital mixer of any size.
For the computer-based studio, the included PCIe-424 card features CueMix DSP, a flexible DSP-driven mixing and monitoring matrix that eliminates the need for an external mixer or patch-bay. Connect all of your studio gear, including synths, keyboards, and even effects processors. Then control it all from your desktop with no audible monitoring latency and no processor drain on your computer.
With 24 channels of digital I/O, the 2408 is ideal for connecting your computer to a digital mixer. Both ADAT lightpipe and Tascam TDIF digital connections are supported at any sample rate up to 96kHz.
And here's another 2408mk3 first: built-in video and SMPTE synchronization. Slave your entire workstation directly to video or SMPTE time code with sub-frame accuracy--without a dedicated synchronizer.
The 2408mk3 provides cross-platform compatibility with Macintosh, Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 and all of your favorite audio software and host-based effects via WDM/ASIO/Core Audio drivers. Or you can use the included AudioDesk workstation software for Macintosh, with 24-bit recording/editing and 32-bit mixing/processing/mastering.
The 2408mk3 upgrades the award-winning 2408 with many significant improvements including 96kHz support, SMPTE synchronization, support for four interfaces and a 96-channel DSP-driven monitor mixer.
The 1U rack-mountable 2408mk3 provides seven banks of I/O: 1 bank of 24-bit, 96kHz analog on balanced TRS connectors, 3 banks of 96kHz ADAT optical, 3 banks of 96kHz Tascam TDIF, plus stereo S/PDIF. You can choose any 3 banks (up to 24 channels) to be active at a time. This means you can hook up three ADATs, three DA-88s, and 8 analog devices all at the same time and access any 3 banks - in any combination of formats. And you can freely switch formats at any time.
In addition to the 8 dedicated analog outputs, the 2408mk3 also features a stereo output with front panel volume control so you can plug powered monitors directly into the 2408mk3.
The PCI-424 card included with 2408mk3 core systems is fully compatible with legacy MOTU interfaces originally designed for the PCI-324 card. Connect any MOTU PCI interface, including the 2408, 2408mkII, 1296, 1224, 24i, and 308. Mix and match new and legacy interfaces as you please.
The PCIe-424 card features a powerful DSP chip dedicated to creating a custom tailored monitor mix of up to 96 channels of 96kHz audio. Because the mixing takes place on the card itself, instead of making the round trip from the PCI bus to the host processor, the 2408mk3 system provides the same near-zero latency performance as today's latest digital mixers. CueMix DSP completely eliminates the buffer latency associated with monitoring on host-based systems. Because the DSP is mixing for you, your computer's CPU is free for other tasks.
Cuemix DSP is the most flexible Cuemix ever, allowing you to mix multiple channels into multiple mix busses or directly assigned outputs. Manage your monitor mix with the intuitive Cuemix Console software included with the 2408mk3.
Because the mixing takes place on the PCIe-424 card, any MOTU Audiowire interface, including the original 2408, can take advantage of Cuemix's flexible monitoring.
A core 2408mk3 system provides 24 inputs and outputs, but it also offers the most expansion ever offered in a single PCIe card. Up to four interfaces can be connected to the PCIe-424 for up to 96 channels of simultaneous input and output at sample rates up to 96kHz.
Think about the possibilities: you could connect 12 ADATs and 12 DA-88s to your computer, along with 32 channels of analog I/O, and simultaneously record and play as many tracks of audio as your computer allows. If you have a digital mixer, the 2408mk3 provides up to 96 channels of digital I/O at 44.1 or 48kHz, and 48 channels at 88.2 or 96kHz.
The 2408mk3 also operates as a stand-alone audio format converter. You can convert audio from any one of its formats to any other, in banks of 8 channels. For example, if you connect three Alesis recorders and three Tascam recorders, you can digitally transfer 24 channels from one format to the other in one pass.
If you expand your 2408mk3 system to four 2408mk3 I/O rack units, you can simultaneously connect 96 channels of ADAT optical, 96 channels of Tascam TDIF, and then transfer 96 channels of material in a single pass!
The 2408mk3 makes the distinction between the two digital I/O formats more transparent than ever; you can freely work with either format.
Your digital mixer is an ideal companion for the 2408mk3 with its ability to integrate 24 channels of digital I/O with a single unit. For example, the Yamaha DM2000 provides an automated moving fader interface, additional real time digital audio effects, mic preamps and DSP power. Connect the DM2000 to your 2408mk3, and now you have 24 channels of pristine digital I/O between the mixer and your computer. If you need more channels, you can add additional 2408mk3 interfaces to support digital transfers as large as 96 channels at 48kHz or 48 channels at 96kHz. The 2408mk3 is the perfect bridge between your digital mixer and your computer audio workstation, and it supports both the ADAT optical lightpipe format and Tascam's TDIF format.
The 2408mk3 provides S/PDIF digital I/O so that you can exchange digital audio with a wide variety of other devices via this industry standard format. But the 2408mk3 takes S/PDIF 1 step further than most other systems by providing an extra S/PDIF stereo output of the main mix. You can use this extra stereo digital output for whatever you want. For example, you can leave it connected to a DAT machine so that at any time you can record a stereo mix of the project you are working on - without having to swap cables with another S/PDIF device that may be connected.
The 2408mk3 is the first audio interface to provide on-board video and SMPTE time code synchronization features. These features allow you to slave your 2408mk3 system to video, SMPTE time code or both - without a dedicated synchronizer. The PCIe-424 card provides a DSP-driven phase-lock engine with sophisticated filtering that provides fast lockup times and sub-frame accuracy.
The 2408mk3 interface provides a dedicated RCA timecode input and output, but with the PCIe-424 on-board DSP, any analog input can be a SMPTE input and time code can be sent to any output - analog or digital. The included software also provides a complete set of tools to generate SMPTE for striping, regenerating or slaving to other devices to your computer. Resolve your 2408mk3 system to NTSC video, PAL/SECAM or blackburst. Like Cuemix DSP, the synchronization features are cross-platform and compatible with your favorite audio sequencer software.
With the 2408mk3, you have everything you need to sync to SMPTE and video.
