Absolute Reliability
The solid metal housing and transformer-less output stage combine to make the C 414 B-XL microphones immune to electrical interference from digital equipment, video monitors or from rf from wireless microphone or other communications systems.
5 Polar Patterns
The twin-diaphragm system gives you a choice of five different polar patterns (omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure eight). The diaphragm is made from a special gold-sputtered plastic foil and the gold layer is deposited on the diaphragm only on the outer sides to prevent short circuiting to the back plate if strong blasts of air are applied.
Elastic Capsule Suspension
Structurally transmitted vibrations that interfere and color the sound are almost completely eliminated thanks to a new elastic capsule suspension system.
3 Switchable Pre-Attenuation Levels
Pre-attenuation levels are controlled by changes in the polarization voltage of the capsule and permit increases of 6, 12 or 18 dB in the maximum sound pressure level for close-up recording or for use on high-output sources.
3 switchable Bass Filters
The switchable bass-cut filters reduce sonic coloration and the risk of low frequency distortion. The slope of the 40 and 80 Hz filters is more than 12 dB-per-octave and these are especially useful in combating wind noise or vibrations from stage floors. The 160 Hz filter has a gentler 6 dB-per-octave slope useful in minimizing proximity effect.
Predictable Performance Even in Humid Conditions
To minimize the negative effects of humidity, all switching circuits are located in a sealed low-impedance section to prevent problems. To test the stability of our microphones' performance, they are tested in simulated climatic conditions between -25 degrees Celsius (-13 degrees Farenheit) and +65 degrees Celsius (+149 degrees Farenheit) as well as relative humidity as high as 99% (immediately below point of condensation) above +20 degrees Celsius (+68 degrees Farenheit). The new C 414 B models can handle temperature extremes anywhere and still deliver perfect performance.

The AKG C451 B Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphonenis great at recording drums, percussions, acoustic guitars and strings in the studio and in live situations. The Neumann KM 184 MT Microphone in matte black is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone with premium Neumann sound that's both open and musical. It is perfect for solo instruments, ensemble, and spot miking.

Neumann U 87 Ai Condenser Microphone Studio Set, Nickel Used
Used in like new condition. Comes with Neumann Mic Cable.
The Neumann U 87 Ai Condenser Microphone in nickel finish is a large dual-diaphragm condenser microphone. It features three directional patterns, including omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8. These are selectable with a switch below the head grille and the window above this switch shows the symbol of the selected characteristic. A 10 dB attenuation switch is located on the rear. It enables the microphone to handle sound pressure levels up to 127 dB without distortion. The low frequency response can be reduced to compensate for proximity effect.
The U 87 Ai is best known as a The Vocal Mic but it is a main microphone for orchestra recordings and as a spot microphone for single instruments, and speech.
The U 87 Ai is addressed from the front. The frequency response of the cardioid and figure-8 directional characteristics are very flat for frontal sound incidence, even in the upper frequency range. The microphone can be used very close to a sound source without the sound becoming unnaturally harsh. By means of a high-pass filter, interference through subsonic and low frequencies are reduced.
The circuitry increases operational headroom of the U 87 Ai by supplying the bias voltages for the capsule through a reduced resistance. The result is a higher sensitivity of 10 dB for identical sound pressure levels, and an improved S/N ratio of 3 dB.
A switch located at the rear attenuates the sensitivity by 10 dB. When this switch is activated, the microphone accepts sound pressure levels up to 127 dB (equivalent to a sound pressure of 45 Pa) without distortion.
An additional switch at the rear allows to change the microphone's cutoff frequency. This reduces low frequency interference directly at the input of the microphone amplifier. This setting also compensates for the unavoidable bass boost that occurs with all pressure gradient transducers when they are used at close distance (proximity effect).

Have two Vintage NEUMANN U-89i Condenser Microphones from the 90s for sale. Used in a smoke free recording studio. Both are in great condition. Sorry no shock mount, case or cable included.
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The U89i is a large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone positioned as an evolution of the U 87.
Both are transformer-coupled multipattern FET mics, but the differences are significant. Some of the differences include:
The K89 capsule differs in size, construction, and sound from the K67/K870 capsule in the U 87.
The U 89i has 5 polar patterns. (The U 87 has 3.)
Although both mics employ DC-DC converters, FET amplifiers and output transformers, the amplifier circuitry in the two mics differ.
The U 89i is physically smaller than the U 87.
Neumann U89i Circuit. The five pickup patterns (figure-8, hypercardioid, cardioid, wide cardioid, omni) are selectable via a rotary switch built into the collar of the microphone.
A second switch provides a -6dB pad, which functions by creating negative feedback within the first stage of amplification. With the pad engaged, the mic’s max SPL is 140dB.
