Hofner Violin 'Beatle' Bass by Joe Dunn

Written in 1996 and published originally in Thailand, Hofner Violin 'Beattle' Bass by Joe Dunn was the first book to be written about this famous Bass Guitar. The Hofner Violin Bass was first marketed in 1956. Made famous by Paul McCartney and nickmaned the "Beattle Bass", it becam one of the most well  known bass guitars ever. Today, these guitars, particularly those made pre-1964 have become collector's items.

The book covers history of the Hofner Company to some degree but is mainly about the 500/1 Violin Bass, it's developement and evolution up to 1996. It includes many pictures and special art work by Michael Joseph.

Author Joe Dunn played in a 60's group called The Rivals based in the Guildford area of Britian from 1964 to 1968 using a Hofner Violin Bass. He has a collection of Violin Basses. Being a pilot for British Airways allowed him to travel the world researching this book.
