DESCRIPTION
Warm Audio WA-47jr Large-Diaphragm FET Condenser Microphone (Nickel)
Contemporary Version Of The Popular '47-Style Studio Mic
Contemporary Version Of A Classic Sound
The WA-47jr is a contemporary version of the legendary 47-style studio microphone that delivers rich analog tone with modern circuitry. The WA-47 jr is equally at home in a project studio or in a world-class recording facility. The WA-47jr features a k47-style capsule that is used by the vintage originals to capture legendary recordings by modern artists including Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Adele and many more.
Past, Meet Present
Combining possibly the greatest condenser capsule of all time with our carefully crafted, modern circuit delivers that analog warmth and pristine detail for capturing everything from vocals, to toms, to acoustic guitar. The sound profile of the WA-47jr blends past and present to achieve the ideal blend of vintage tone and modern performance.
The K47-style capsule reproduction features dual gold-sputtered, 6-micron Mylar diaphragms with a single backplate. The fully discrete signal path includes Toshiba FETs, WIMA film capacitors, and Panasonic electrolytic capacitors to deliver the clean tone associated with transformerless microphones. With a gold-plated XLR 3-pin connector and operability via 48V phantom power, it is compatible with most mixing consoles and mic preamps. It comes with a vibration-reducing shockmount and a compact hardmount to allow flexibility in placement and positioning.
Custom Capsule
The WA-47jr utilizes a custom reproduction of the vintage K47-style capsule that was used in the classic U47 microphone—designed with the same pattern and frequency response. Warm Audio's version of this capsule (model WA-47-B-80v) is carefully manufactured by an Australian capsule manufacturer whose precision and consistency allows sonic replication of the most important piece of this classic style of microphone.
Low Noise
The WA-47jr's discrete signal path pairs with the true U47-style capsule to obtain a very similar tone to the classic U47 microphone. The low self-noise of only 9 dBA enables pristine capture of quiet sound sources.
Tone-Impacting Components
The WA-47jr incorporates a modernized and simplified circuit design. Toshiba FETs, WIMA film capacitors, and Panasonic electrolytic capacitors contribute to the signature tone of the mic.
Configuration Flexibility
Three polar patterns and a -10 dB pad enable versatility for close and distant positions and loud and quiet sources. The 70 Hz high-pass filter aids in reducing rumble, proximity effect, and excessive low frequencies.
