EastWest FAB FOUR is a virtual (software) instrument that includes 45 instruments inspired by the sounds of the Beatles. "The quality is undeniable, I can't imagine what East West must have gone through to track down these sounds (and get Beatles engineer Ken Scott on board)." - EQ
M.I.P.A Winner ; judged most innovative instrument by 100 music magazines
Various vintage guitars were sampled with up and down strokes, multiple velocities and picking styles, some with chords and effects. Basses used were the Hofner 500 Bass (1963) and Rickenbacker 4001S Bass (1964). Drums included a rare 1960 Ludwig downbeat kit with Zildjian cymbals.
The recording equipment was just as equally meticulously acquired. Items included very rare EMI REDD tube and TG12345 recording desks, Fairchild limiters, EMI RS124 modified Altec compressors, and Studer J-37 tube multi-tracks, among other microphones, amplifiers, and other outboard units.
Having worked on multiple Beatles albums, project engineer Ken Scott was able to recreate from his direct experience, many of the unique techniques developed by the Beatles during their musical odyssey. The Fab Four virtual instrument utilizes a dedicated playback engine, the PLAY Advanced Sample Engine, which provides an easy searchable browser and the ability for users to customize the sounds.
Features:
Virtual instrument featuring instrumentation inspired by the music and sound of the Beatles
Total of 13GB of 24-bit / 88.2 kHz samples
Includes authentic rare period guitars (acoustic and electric), basses, drums, keyboards, stringed, and other miscellaneous instruments
Neumann, AKG, Cole and STC microphones were used to record all instruments
The period amplifiers used to record the electric guitars included the Fender Tan Showman (1963), Fender Bassman (1963), Vox AC30 (1963), Vox AC50 (1965), Vox Defiant (1966), Vox 730 (1966), Vox 7120 (1966), Fender Showman (1967) and the Fender DeLuxe (1967)
Drums were all multi-sampled with up to sixteen velocity layers, left and right hand. The sounds were all matched to a particular style, e.g. A Day in the Drums, Ticket to Drums, Yer Drums
Includes various keyboards
The same kind of recording desks and preamps were used to record all instruments, including a very rare EMI REDD tube desk, EMI TG12345 desk (the same kind of desk used to record "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"), and EMI REDD47 preamps
The same kind of limiters (Fairchild) and compressors (rare EMI RS124 modified Altec) were used for dynamics control
The same kind of Studer J-37 tube 4-track was used to record everything
Instrument plays back via the PLAY Advanced Sample Engine, a dedicated audio engine/interface providing a powerful streaming engine
All instruments listed in a single browser for easy navigation
Stereo Swap allows the user to instantly swap the left and right channels. Mono from left, mono from right, or mono sum allow for instant conversion from stereo to mono
Instruments
Guitars (some costing over $200,000 each) played by Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney and Wings) include Gretsch Firebird (1959), Gretsch Tennessean (1963), Rickenbacker 360-12 (1965), Martin D-28 (1966), Fender Stratocaster (1956), Epiphone Casino (1965), Fender Telecaster (1951), Gibson SG (1960), Les Paul Goldtop (1957), Gibson J200 (1966), Hofner 500 Bass (1963) and Rickenbacker 4001S Bass (1964)
Guitars were sampled with up and down strokes, multiple velocities and picking styles, some with chords and effects
Most of the sounds would be impossible to create without all of the above equipment. For example, the "revostortion" guitar sound was created by feeding an Epiphone Casino guitar into one EMI REDD 47 preamp, and the output into a second EMI REDD 47 preamp, which is exactly how it was created originally by the EMI/Abbey Road engineers
Drums played by Denny Seiwell (Paul McCartney and Wings) include a rare 1960 Ludwig downbeat kit with Zildjian cymbals (snare 5 x 14; toms 9 x 13 / 16 x 16; kick 22 x 14; Zildjan 20" crash ride; 18" crash medium; 14" Hi-Hat)
Drums are all multi-sampled with up to 16 velocity layers, left and right hand. The sounds were all matched to a particular style (e.g. A Day in the Drums, Ticket to Drums, Yer Drums). We even recorded some heavily modulated cymbals through a Fairchild limiter for authenticity
Keyboards include Baldwin Electric Harpsichord (Because I'm a Harpsichord), Clavioline (Baby I'm a Clavioline), Lucy in the Lowery, Strawberry Flutes, We Can Work a Harmonium, and other stringed instruments including Swarmandel Forever
Effects
Includes a software version of ADT (artificial double tracking) with built-in tape simulator, created and programmed specially for this project.
The software includes filters, delay, and multiple high-quality reverb choices

HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS is a brand new, ground up, beautifully recorded choirs virtual instrument from Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, the producers of Symphonic Choirs, the best-selling and most awarded virtual choir of all time.
HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS features a blockbuster female and male choir with unprecedented dynamics that will instantly transform your next project into a cinematic masterpiece.
HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS also includes WordBuilder 2. WordBuilder allows the composer to type in any word or phrase and have it sung by the choir. Additional phonemes were recorded for Hollywood Choirs resulting in improved realism and support for more languages. For convenience you can now sync WordBuilder to your DAW so it follows the track. The new group Instrument loading avoids having to load up to 13 Instruments, and there are many more incredible under the hood improvements resulting in an easier to use superior tool.
HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS also includes 110 new editable pre-built WordBuilder phrases in English, German, and Latin that are exclusive to this product, and that can be quickly and effortlessly dropped into your mix or used as a starting point to create your own custom phrases.
HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS Diamond Edition includes a 13 microphone user-controllable setup (including a Neumann Dummy Head) designed for surround sound and virtual reality, an essential feature for film, TV, and game composers.
HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS delivers that powerful, blockbuster sound that all composers are seeking and opens up new 3D soundscapes that will help create incredible and emotional journeys for your audiences for many years to come.
"This is the third choir EastWest/Quantum Leap has recorded," says EastWest producer Doug Rogers, "we learnt a lot from the previous productions and Hollywood Choirs is the culmination of that experience. In particular, the choirs' ability to sing any word or phrase has been significantly improved resulting in more realism; and there are many more sound options to enable the user to sculpt the sound to their requirements."
"In the past 12 years, there have been many attempts by others to improve on what EastWest/Quantum Leap achieved with Symphonic Choirs," says EastWest producer Nick Phoenix, "Small improvements were made to various aspects of choir sampling, but the emphasis has been on pre-recorded and severely limited phrases. If composers are not tired of hearing the same faux Latin phrases repeated over and over, those listening certainly are. No single choir virtual instrument has managed to deliver a fluid, intuitive and great sounding choir that was capable of singing any words in any language, soft or loud ... until now."
What's Included? HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS includes:
A collection of men and women choir instruments
A WordBuilder program that turns text into sung words

Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition
Hollywood Orchestra Opus Editionis the highly anticipated expansion to Hollywood Orchestra, the best-selling and most awarded orchestral virtual instrument ever produced. It includes brand new pristine recordings, reimagined original content, and powerful new features, all housed in our new revolutionary OPUS software engine. Produced by Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, recipients of over 100 international industry Awards, and sound engineered by multiple Academy Award and BAFTA winner Shawn Murphy,Hollywood Orchestra Opus Editionis the culmination of years of recording and programming and will set a new industry standard for achieving professional sounding orchestral soundtracks.Hollywood Orchestra Opus Editionwill be released with the new Opus software and a companion product Hollywood Orchestrator, a must-have tool for composers of every skill level who want to achieve that Hollywood blockbuster sound quickly.
BRAND NEW RECORDINGS AND REIMAGINED ORIGINAL CONTENT
Brand new recordings include a new 18 violin string section for Hollywood Strings, new ensembles for Hollywood Brass and Hollywood Orchestral Woodwinds, plus new string, brass, and wind multi ensembles. "The new 18 violins are an alternate to the first 16 violins of the original library. They have a different sound," says producer Nick Phoenix, "the players are different. The vibrato is different. The legato is the best we have ever recorded. They work well with the existing collection or as a replacement for the original 1st violins. The new 2 tenor trombones have a completely different sound from the 3 trombones in the original collection. The new trombones are warm, full, and extremely precise. 2 trumpets were recorded again using two of the best players in the Hollywood film score scene. The legato is blazing at high velocities and sounds like a live performance."
The programming of the original content from Hollywood Orchestra has been updated to take advantage of the features included in the new Opus software engine, as well as the Hollywood Solo Instrument Series (now included in this expansion). Particular focus was placed on Hollywood Orchestral Woodwinds. After improving the original woodwinds, new ensembles were recorded, including 3 bassoons, 3 clarinets, and 3 flutes. "Once again, this was a huge success because of the quality of the players," says Phoenix, "Each woodwind ensemble works together on a regular basis and the tuning and timing are immaculate. These new recordings are unmatched in the virtualinstrumentsworld. The Opus Edition also includes new string, brass and wind multi ensembles that have a unique fat sound that captures the tuning of a large orchestra playing together in a live setting."
POWERFUL NEW CONTROLS
Powerful new control features include Master key-switches where all articulations can be fully customized in the new OPUS articulation palette. You can also customize the sound of each instrument using the new MOODS feature. Classic Mood is the original Hollywood Orchestra sound. Soft Mood modifies the sound for slower, more emotional passages. Epic Mood does the opposite, giving you a sound perfectly suited for your next Action Adventure score. Each mood changes the settings and the look of the interface, which has been completely redesigned and stylized for Hollywood Strings, Hollywood Brass, Hollywood Orchestral Woodwinds, Hollywood Percussion, Hollywood Solo Violin, Hollywood Solo Cello, and Hollywood Harp. In addition, we simplified all instrument versions down to LITE and MAX, making Hollywood Strings in particular much easier to navigate. The MOODS feature was programmed for the Diamond editions that include all mic positions mixed by Shawn Murphy.
THAT MAGICAL HOLLYWOOD SOUND
Of course, multiple Academy Award and BAFTA winner Shawn Murphy was brought back to sound engineer all of the new recordings. Shawn Murphy is one of the most prolific sound engineers and mixers in the history of cinema. Just some of his over 500 feature film credits include the Star Wars franchise (The Rise of Skywalker, The Last Jedi, The Force Awakens, Revenge of theSith, Attack of the Clones, The Phantom Menace), The Hunger Games franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Jurassic Park and The Lost World, Titanic, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Mission: Impossible, Apollo 13, the Indiana Jones franchise (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade), and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. In addition, Shawn Murphy has created special mic mixes forHollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, including an additional recorded mic position for all new instrument ensembles that is made up of all "off-axis" close mics that were open, but not played directly into. This extra mic position is perfect for capturing the larger sound ofEastWestStudio One, the home of countless Hollywood film and television scores. All mic positions are available in the Diamond version and forComposerCloudPlus subscribers. One mic position is available for the Gold version and for regularComposerCloudsubscribers.ComposerCloudX members get an extra mic position than Gold.
OUR REVOLUTIONARYNEW OPUS SOFTWARE ENGINE
Ourbrand newOPUS software engine replaces PLAY and has been years in development. "Many improvements were made to the PLAY software engine over the last decade but we suddenly had a unique opportunity," says producer Doug Rogers, "we were able to bring Wolfgang Kundrus in as head of software development. He was the mastermind behind the creation of Cubase,Nuendo, and Studio One. Then we were able to bring in Wolfgang Schneider, the creator ofKontakt. With these two titans of music software development now on our team, we decided it was time to develop abrand newsoftware engine from the ground up. The OPUS software engine is the realization of this effort. Not only is it faster, more powerful, more flexible, and better looking than PLAY, it comes with some incredible new features such as individual instrument downloads, the ability to start playing instruments while they're loading, customized key-switches, new effects for the mixer page, scaleableretina GUI upgrades for legacy products, a powerful new script language, and many more features that allow you to completely customize the sound of each instrument. It's one of the most exciting developments in the history of our company and will be the launching pad for many exciting new products in the future."
ALSO INCLUDESHOLLYWOOD ORCHESTRATOR
Create full-scale orchestral music with complex arrangements by playing a few simple chords with one hand and shaping expression with the other. Developed in collaboration withSonuscore, Hollywood Orchestrator used all the instruments in Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition to createrealtimearrangements based on your MIDI input with our Innovative Scoring Engine.
COMPOSE A BLOCKBUSTERSOUNDTRACK IN SECONDS
With over 500 customizable presets, you can instantly create music in the style of Hollywood's greatest composers. Select from Ensemble presets to quickly create rich orchestral arrangements. With Ostinato presets, you can build rhythmic tension in different meters or create moving melodic lines by only changing a few notes. With Score, classic Hollywood orchestrations become an endless source of inspiration. Create your own User presets by modifying existing presets or build your own ensembles from scratch!
THEIR INNOVATIVE SCORING ENGINE
At the heart of Hollywood Orchestrator is our innovative Scoring Engine, which can produce results ranging from a basic string arrangement, to very complex orchestrations played by the full orchestra. It achieves this in a two-step process by first modifying the MIDI input with a Note Selection process, then sending those note selections to a powerful Step Sequencer where chords are played with the programmed rhythms. If you want to take things a step further, you can optionally active our step sequencers. Each slot has one of them. They take, whatever the note selection process outputs, and manipulate that. If you program a rhythmic pattern into the sequencers and play a C-Major chord, the sequencers will take the notes from the note selection and play the chord with that rhythm.
In the Mixer section, refine the final output of each instrument by adjusting the volume, pan, equalization, reverb preset, reverb send amounts, and other reverb controls like pre-delay, length, and filters.
Hollywood Orchestrator is the perfect tool both for new composers who want to get that magical Hollywood sound quickly and effortlessly, and for professional composers who need to produce large amounts of compositions on a deadline. Please note: Hollywood Orchestrator requires Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, it is not a standalone product, and is not compatible with the original Hollywood Orchestra or Hollywood Solo Instruments which are now included in the Opus Edition with the newly recorded instruments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hollywood Orchestrator available as a separate purchase/can it be removed from the Opus upgrade?
Hollywood Orchestrator is built into the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition and at this time is not available as a separate purchase, nor can you omit it from the purchase price.
What is the difference between the Gold and Diamond versions of Opus?
The Gold edition (available for purchase or within the ComposerCloud subscription) has 16-bit samples and one microphone position. Gold X (only available with a ComposerCloud X Subscription) adds one additional mic position. The Diamond version, which you can purchase or access with the ComposerCloud Plus subscription, is 24-bit samples with all mic positions.
Will upgrading to Opus affect my current/existing projects?
No, Opus and Play are two separate software products, anything you have saved in your projects will still load up inside the saved Play version of the plugins. You can update your current/existing projects to Opus if you so choose, or leave them saved within Play.
How Large is the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition?
Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition Diamond is approximately 944GB in size which includes both the original and new content. Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition Gold is approximately 242GB in size.
Am I able to save the Orchestra Opus content to a drive separate from my existing Hollywood Orchestra Content?
No, you can split the sections to different devices, but any section will consolidate into the same directory. For example both Hollywood Strings Diamond and the Hollywood Strings Opus Edition Diamond will have to be in the same directory, but you could have Hollywood Brass and Hollywood Brass Opus Edition in the same directory in another location.
Can I split the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition onto multiple drives?
Yes, that is possible. The Opus Edition is split into separate sections: Brass, Percussion, Strings, Woodwinds, Solo Violin, Solo Cello, and Harp. Each section can be installed on a separate drive.
Do I have to reinstall the whole Orchestra, or just download the Opus content?
If you already have the Hollywood Orchestra Gold or Diamond installed, you will only need to download the additional OPUS content which will be available as a download via the Installation Center.
What’s included in the Opus Edition?
Includes over 130GB of brand new recordings (total size is now 944GB)
Includes reimagined original content for all sections and solo instruments
Includes all new interfaces that change color depending on the MOOD selected
Includes Hollywood Orchestrator ($299 value), a must-have tool for composers
Includes all Hollywood Solo Instruments ($299 value)
Includes Innovative new features and effects powered by our new OPUS engine
Can I upgrade just a section of the Orchestra to the Opus Edition?
What if I’d like to upgrade to Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition in the Diamond Version, but I only own a partial amount of the Diamond tiers or have all Gold or a combination of Gold & Diamond out of my Hollywood Orchestral licenses?
Is the original Hollywood Orchestra and Solo Instruments compatible with Opus?
No, only Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition is compatible with the new Opus software. Providing support for old and new versions of Hollywood Orchestra in the Opus software would create confusion and require us to support two versions of the same product in the same software. Original Hollywood Orchestra users that do not upgrade will continue to use the Play software. All other products except the MIDI Guitar Series are supported in Opus as only the interfaces have been updated to retina resolution in these products.
Will I be able to upgrade to the Opus engine without buying Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition?
Currently you must purchase Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition to get the OPUS software. People who purchase any product post-release will also get OPUS. All ComposerCloud members will automatically get OPUS. But we are going to wait a while before allowing previous PLAY product purchasers to upgrade in order to assist our support team during this major upgrade period. When we do provide that option, it will be a paid upgrade.

EastWest close-mic’d every instrument closer than they ever have before, capturing the grit, depth, and air of every note in the finest detail possible. You can independently control 3 separate close mic positions (including mics attached directly to the instruments), plus main, mid-field, and surround mics. There’s no limit to the depth you can create — Hollywood Strings 2 is even Atmos-ready, so you can create Atmos mixes in DAWs that support Atmos. Epic arrangements are great, but there’s more to strings than scale alone... and while its predecessor is indeed epic, Hollywood Strings 2 goes even further, molding itself to any task.
NEW STRINGS, NEW ROOM & A RICH HISTORY
Hollywood Strings 2 was recorded in EastWest’s own Studio 2, just like the themes to The Beverly Hillbillies, Hawaii Five-O, and the soundtracks to Encanto and A Star is Born. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Weezer, and Metallica also selected Studio 2 for its tight and punchy sound! It’s only fitting that these strings suit cinematic metal or heavy rock as well as they would an epic film cue. If you’ve had your fill of massive ensembles and need focus and precision, you won’t find a more intimate string library anywhere else. Even if you already have them all.
6 1st Violins
Lyrical legato, crisp, laser-focused spiccato, articulate detache — everything you could want from 1st violins, captured in pristine detail. A common issue with violin libraries is that they refuse to come to the front of the mix, no matter how you treat them with EQ. Not so with Hollywood Strings 2; you can mix for the sound you want, without wrangling other string libraries to fit inside a box they weren’t made for.
Hollywood Strings
4 2nd Violins
All the flexibility and rawness of the 1st violins, but in a smaller support ensemble ideal for doubling and harmonizing. The main, mid, and surround mics provide as much or as little depth as you need, or you can mute them for an in-your-face yet cinematic sound. With every articulation, style, and control mapping for maximum flexibility — spacious, bone-dry, or anything in between.
Hollywood Strings
4 Violas
Rich, resonant, and full. The Hollywood Strings 2 violas excel at delivering an earthy, dry, brilliant tone that pierces through any mix — but it just as easily melds into the background during soft, lyrical passages. Tight pizzicato, gritty spiccato, and tons of other articulations are at your disposal. Play through the various staccato options and you’ll find a mix of clean and staccato slur articulations for maximum realism and character.
Hollywood Strings
4 Celli
Sonorous in the bottom octave and brilliant in its top range, this cello section delivers a full spectrum of timbres and articulations. All, of course, with the same ultra-close miking and 6 adjustable mic positions. Many patches contain expressive vibrato controlled via the mod wheel; combined with deep slurs and portamento, you can capture any performance you need, in any style. The same grandeur as the original Hollywood Strings, but with infinitely more flexibility.
Hollywood Strings
3 Basses
Your double basses never need to sit in the background again. We captured every detail of their rich harmonics with fantastic balance, lending intense raw power to the bottom octave of any string arrangement. They’re equally adept with hefty staccato and lyrical melodies in their higher range, with every articulation captured in pristine detail and next to zero bleed or ambience in the close mics.
Hollywood Strings
Full Strings
Close mics don't mean sacrificing power. We stacked all 21 players in octaves for a rich, bright tone perfect for filling the entire frequency range. Of course, all instruments have 3 Mood options: Classic, Soft, and Epic.

WHAT WILL YOU CREATE?
If you’ve ever wanted strings that jump out of the mix, cutting through any arrangement as if they were right in front of you... Hollywood Strings 2 is your ticket. No matter the task, its 6 mic positions, broad articulation set, and control over dynamics allow it to slip into any scoring task without difficulty. Shape the sound how you want — with depth, emotion, and raw power all at your disposal. Inside you’ll discover the same care and grandeur behind the original Hollywood Strings; only this time, you have all the control.

The Eastwest Ministry Of Rock 2 was put together with one goal in mind: to create a virtual (software) instrument capable of producing sounds that could actually produce a hit record or film score without any live drum, bass, or guitar overdubs. The articulations and programming were all reverse engineered from actual performances. The 57 gigabyte collection features LIVE technology that enables multi-sampled drums to sound like a live performance.
Produced by Nick Phoenix and recorded at the Legendary EASTWEST Studios by Phoenix, Doug Rogers, and Rhys Moody, Ministry Of Rock 2 features some of the industries top players like Shane Gibson, guitarist with KoRn/Stork/Schwarzenator; Greg Suran, guitarist with Goo Goo Dolls/Avril Lavigne/Glee; Doug Rappaport, guitarist with Edgar Winter/Potent; and Tal Bergman, drummer with Billy Idol, LL Cool J, Rod Stewart, Terence Trent Darby, Joe Zawinul.
The drums for Ministry Of Rock 2 were recorded in EASTWEST Studio 1 on three large rock kits from DW, Gretsch, and Ludwig, along with 6 additional snares. Top vintage and modern gear from Neve, Neumann, Telefunken, AKG, Manley, Fairchild, Royer, Chandler and Meitner were employed for a legendary sound. Repetition samples were recorded for everything as well as extreme dynamics and three mic positions for drums (close + room, or close + compressed room) to dial in the desired sound and an ultra-realistic performance. Any drum from any kit can be selected to create a custom kit, plus there are 6 additional snare drums to choose from.
Ministry Of Rock 2 guitars were recorded on Fender Jaguar, Fender Telecaster Thinline, Carvin 7 String, Baritone, Gibson Les Paul, and Schecter 7 String through Fender, Divided By Thirteen, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Bogner and Vox Amps. Samples feature round robin, hammer on and pull off legato, sliding legato and dozens of other techniques. Dual channel recordings let you pick a wicked real amp sound or use the direct signal with popular plug-ins.
Ministry Of Rock 2 also includes all of the remastered content from Hardcore Bass and Hardcore Bass XP plus an all-new 5 string Musicman Stingray bass with 7000 samples and true legato. Fender, Hofner, Gibson, Silvertone, Rickenbacker, Musicman and Lakeland basses were recorded through large bass rigs.

After two years of recording, editing, and programming, EastWest/Quantum Leap proudly present the most detailed collection of the world's finest grand pianos ever recorded in one of the 'temples of sound', EASTWEST STUDIOS (more RIAA certified platinum and gold records awarded than any other recording studios) with 3 mic positions for each piano.
This virtual instrument includes four of the world's finest grand pianos: a Bechstein D-280, Steinway D, Bösendorfer 290, and Yamaha C7. The PLAY interface includes impulses from the same hall the producers used to record Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs so the pianos can blend with those collections.
EastWest/Quantum Leap Pianos Gold Edition, which provides only the player's perspective mics and 16-bit samples, is available for users with less powerful systems. A low-cost upgrade path is available for users of the Gold Edition who wish to move up to the Full Edition.
Additional close mics version engineered by KEN SCOTT

East West ProDrummer 1 & 2 Mac PC Instrument eLicense
EastWest's ProDrummer™ 1 & 2 not only includes professional drum sounds; the producers, who record and mix the biggest artists in the music business, have included pre-mixed drum kits for use in your compositions using the 'state of the art' tools included in the ProDrummer software.
EastWest is all about the 'sound'; that's the only part that ends up in your track, so, in addition to the producer pre-mixed drum kits, they have included their favorite effects processors including Solid State Logic EQ and Dynamics, Transient Shaper, and the legendary SSL Stereo Bus Compressor; Ohmicide multiband distortion, compression, EQ and filter, which pretty much lets you create 'anything', and is perfect for EDM or media composers; plus EastWest's new Amp Simulator with 80 Amp Presets, and Expanded Convolution Reverb with 726 Additional Reverb Presets. Together these powerful tools enable user customization of the core sounds limited only by your imagination.
Also included in each volume are over 14,000 MIDI drum grooves in different styles. Search for the right grooves for your song with our groove 'search engine' and assemble your song right inside ProDrummer with the built-in sequencer (or drag to your DAW). Use our built-in Velocity Processor to control the dynamic power of the drums. Export the song to your favorite DAW to build the rest of your track, it couldn't be easier!
PRODRUMMER VOLUME 1
ProDrummer Volume 1 includes approx. 40 Gigabytes of Drum Kits and MIDI drum grooves produced by Joe Chiccarelli and multi-award winning EastWest producer Doug Rogers, with drums played by Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, etc.).
ProDrummer Volume 1 includes Craviotto, Ludwig, Tama, Slingerland, Gretsch, Istanbul and Zildjian, drums, hi-hats and cymbals recorded in 3 different rooms. The sound shaping options in the ProDrummer Mixer are unparalleled with the usual high quality you expect from EASTWEST. All drums have their own channels with individual processing and routing.

QUANTUM LEAP STORMDRUM 2 is the sequel to QUANTUM LEAP STORMDRUM (one of the best selling acoustic percussion based virtual instruments ever released).
QUANTUM LEAP SD2 is over twice the size of the original Stormdrum, featuring over 12 Gigabytes of ALL NEW (except the included Metallica black drum kit from Ministry Of Rock) acoustic percussion instruments. The unique selection of drums and percussion included exceeds all other collections. As a sequel to STORMDRUM it sets new standards that will exceed the expectations of everyone who owns a QUANTUM LEAP product.
Included is the new advanced EASTWEST PLAY sample engine offering both 64-bit and 32-bit support.
Also included are 100+ film score oriented MIDI PERFORMANCES, each with dozens of variations, intros and endings from bombastic to hypnotic. The PLAY software allows for millions of variations of each midi performance so you can create custom performances at any tempo without any loss of sound quality because the samples are not time-stretched, only the sequencer tempo is changed. Want to slow it down from 120 BPM to 50 BPM? Simply change the tempo of your sequence, the sounds will remain pristine. Want to change the tone to something more aggressive, or something more subtle? Simply change the dynamics and marvel as 24 velocity multi-sampled percussion creates a completely new sound. Want to tune, add effects or filters to specific drums? No problem. Want to mute specific sounds and play in your own parts? No problem. Sound replacement? No problem. Like the sound of a performance, but don't like the rhythm? Simply use the current multi to create your own rhythms.
Drawing from the secret collections of three percussionists, QUANTUM LEAP SD2 - THE NEXT GENERATION features some of the most amazing, and unique multi-sampled percussion imaginable, all recorded with vintage Neumann microphones in the famous EASTWEST STUDIO 1 (formally United-Western) for that unmistakable Hollywood sound-stage vibe and a sound far beyond any other commercial percussion collection.
QUANTUM LEAP SD2 - THE NEXT GENERATION takes the concept to a whole new level. Studio 1 at the new EASTWEST STUDIOS (formally United-Western) is one of the best sounding percussion recording studios anywhere. It is very similar to the top Hollywood sound-stages, but with a more refined sound. The studio has one of the best mic collections in the world, and rare vintage recording equipment that is sonically superior to any I have used previously. Digital transfers were done through very expensive Meitner converters.
Generally there is a lot of velocity switching going on and some round robin (alternate) sample switching. The sounds are usually organized with the middle of the drum hits on the lowest keys, and as you move up the keys, the hits move to the outside of the drum. Use CC11 volume and CC12 pan inside your sequencer, because they work per midi channel, unlike CC7 and CC10 which control the entire instance of PLAY's volume and pan. The mod-wheel controls a fantastic filter which can give the sounds more life and sound design options.
The MIDI PERFORMANCES included in QUANTUM LEAP SD2 - THE NEXT GENERATION are in type 0 midi file format. This means that 16 tracks of midi data is compressed into a single midi file data stream. You can playback the data as is, or expand it onto 16 tracks using the expand/unpack function in your sequencer. Set up a template that allocates 16 tracks to PLAY, midi channel 1-16. Once expanded, you have access to every parameter of the sequence, as if you had created it yourself. Tempo, muting instruments, adding instruments and parts, changing the tone using velocity and controllers, quantizing etc... are all possible. If you are not experienced with creating MIDI percussion performances, they might be educational too. The .ewi multi files that contain the 16 sound patches for each midi performance are also useful as templates to create your own MIDI performances.
You may want to add some reverb on top of the natural sound-stage ambience, as is typically done in film-scores. PLAY's convolution reverb is perfect for this. The delay is useful also. Use the stereo width control to widen the sound-stage, and channel sourcing to get a mono signal for exact placement in the stereo field. You'll find that the left and right channels often sound quite different, which is useful.
