• Large hard drive(s), preferably at least 100 GB. The disk on which the sounds are stored must be a fast hard disk. See “Hard disk format”, below, for additional requirements.
• An iLok USB Smart Key from Pace Anti-Piracy. MachFive 3 is compatible with iLok 1 and 2. PLEASE NOTE: an iLok key is not included in the MachFive 3 package. If you are are upgrading from a previous version of MachFive, you can use your MachFive version 1 or 2 iLok for your new version 3 license, which is downloaded from ilok.com.

Gigasampler LE (Lite Edition), which as its name suggests is a cutdown version selling at a cheaper price. In essence, the main engine is identical, providing the same 32-bit audio processing and huge sampling capabilities, but with a maximum of 48-note polyphony rather than 64, without the Audio Capture feature, and only supporting two hardware channel outputs (this only currently affects Aark 20/20 users).

The bundle is much smaller, with the omission of Sample Wrench, the Gigabyte piano, and the S-Converter.

Reproduction of an historic Alfred Arnold Bandoneon

The Bandoneon choosen for sampling is an historic Alfred Arnold of 50s.with 40 keys on the right hand and 32 notes on left hand.

The Bandoneon was recorded with a Neumann TLM103 large diaphragm microphone thru an Apogee Symphony I/O converter with its own Mic Preamp card for the best audio resolution and musical details. All the 440 samples are in 96kHz/24bit resolution!

By careful analysis of the sound PSound found a great variation of the harmonic spectrum during the dynamic range of the reeds. This variation depends on the high quality of the hand made reeds of the instrument. They tried to reproduce this amazing feature!

There are 4 dynamic layers and 2 round-robins for each note of the instrument. All the samples of the Bandoneon are perfectly looped with "DSPQuattro" audio editing software. In this way, you can play very long notes from your instruments without interruptions.

GRAN CODA is a new approach in making a virtual grand piano.
For the first time a virtual instrument was created in collaboration with the manufacturer: Fazioli Pianoforti (Sacile, Italy).

GRAN CODA was recorded in Sacile at the Fazioli Concert Hall and the piano was prepared by Fazioli technicians.
The selected model F278 is the resident Grand Piano of the Fazioli Concert Hall and it was inaugurated in 2005 by a great italian pianist: Aldo Ciccolini.
Paolo Principi recorded it in 3 different microphone positions: Close (most used in jazz and pop productions), Side (for classic music) and Binaural (to simulate the position of the pianist inside the Fazioli Concert Hall).
The virtual instrument was tested and approved by Fazioli technicians inside Fazioli laboratories.
For these reasons GRAN CODA is the only Virtual Piano authorized by Fazioli.

Vintage Accordion is a software virtual musical instrument created by Paolo Principi of PSOUND. The instrument is based on a vintage Titano accordion made in Castelfidardo, Italy from the 1960s. To realized it Paolo made an in depth study about its special sound. Paolo loves that sound and all its expressive variations! To capture its soul he worked with amazing technical tools (from microphones to sound card, from editing software to developement system)! He recorded, edited and looped almost 1300 waveforms for a total of 2GB of memory storage. All samples are perfectly looped. He recorded all the registers of his accordion, all the keys for 4 velocity layers and 2 round robin. He adopted a filter to simulate the harmonic variation of sounds during its dynamic range. He separately recorded the key-on and key-off noises for a more realistic sound! Now he says: "Yes! This is its real sound!".

A RESEARCH AND AN IN DEPTH STUDY OF THE ACCORDION SOUND TO OBTAIN A MORE REALISTIC VIRTUAL INSTRUMENT IN SIX PHASES. MADE BY A MUSICIAN FOR MUSICIANS.

"Vintage Accordion" is based on an old Titano Accordion made in Castelfidardo (Italy) by Victoria in the 60s. This instrument is one of the most acclaimed vintage accordions on the market. Its sound, with the "tube chamber" solution, allows the musicians to explore all the expressive possibilities that an accordion can produce!

LAYERS & FILTERS

Composing the sound

There's 4 dynamic layers and 2 round-robins for each note of the instrument. A special filter modulated by expression pedal allows a great "crescendo" effect to obtain a real bellow controlled sound. A Tremolo effect is modulate by "modulation wheel"

Recorded his vintage accordion with a Neumann TLM103 large diaphragm microphone thru an amazing Apogee Symphony I/O converter with its own Mic Preamp card for the best audio resolution and musical details. All the 1289 samples are in 96kHz/24bit resolution!

All the sounds you need

The 7 registers of the real accordion are implemented: Basson (16"), Bandoneon (16"+8"), Organ (16"+4"), Master (16"+8"+4"), Oboe (8"+4") and Piccolo (4"). I provide to set various presets, from left and right hand together to single register presets to manage every MIDI configuration.

CONTROLS

Power is nothing without control

Control panel with: single voice volume (16", 8" and 4"),key noises volume (key-on and key-off). Reverb on/off, time and wet/dry controls. Accordion registers are selectionable in the control panel or by Key-switches.

World Musette is a collection of Musette sounds from all over the world: from America to Italy, from France to North Europe and more. The Musette Accordion Sound is based on 2 or 3 voices: the main 8" voice and 1 or 2 8" detuned voices. Each kind of Musette has its own detune values, from 4 cents to 23 cents. The Swing preset implements 3 reed voices:

• 8" detuned (-4 cents) voice.
• Swing preset implements just 3 registers beacuse it usually doesn't use 3 voices at the same time.

France

The France preset implements 3 reed voices:

Tirolo

The Tirolo preset implements 3 reed voices:

They recorded the finest instruments on the planet for this suite of instruments for professional keyboardists and composers. The Fazioli 10ft grand was recorded in a Studio Bau:ton designed studio, CounterPoint Studios in SLC, Utah. They recorded this magnificent instrument in surround with 11 channels of mics. The piano is presented in stereo and surround. You'll find these instruments extremely playable and inspiring.

There has never been a sampled piano that you can play this softly. They programmed and designed these instruments for maximum expressivity and playability to fit every style of playing. You’ll find the dashboard accessed microphone control allows you to customize the piano for virtually any musical application and sound type. They placed mics over the hammers, under the piano, 2 matched pairs of Earthworks room mics at both ends of the room as well as a classical ORTF, 2 side mic configuration to the right of the player.

The set of vintage keyboards were meticulously recorded at a private studio in Topanga Canyon, in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. This stunning collection of lovingly restored vintage keyboards includes Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Vox, Farfisa and Hammond organs. These keyboards were played by Arlan Oscar Schierbaum. The instruments are part of a collection curated by Arlan and carefully restored by master keyboard technician Ken Rich of Los Angeles. California. They recorded at the highest resolution to capture the character and uniqueness of each instrument, 192khz/24bit into a pro tools HD system. The collection is delivered in 24bit 44k and comprises about 8000 samples for approximately 40 Gigabytes.

California Keys will easily load into the Kontakt Player and Kontakt 5.5 Full Version. NKS Komplete Kontrol functionality programming allows you to browse and control real time parameters such as mic levels, tone, reverb, ADSR and much more. The Kontakt script and dashboard they’ve developed features quick visual access to dial in velocity curve, filter, ADSR, several reverb choices, mic level with panning and tone to brighten or darken the instruments.
